Everything you need to know about the exercise type: Hotspots

The exercise type Hotspots lets users drag and drop to an image and/or fill in a text on a hotspot on a background image.

How to make it:

Start with the upload of an image by going to the General tab, and click on Add files.

Above In the text field input area, you will find a list with available images next to the image label. Choose one in the dropdown. The image you choose here will be used as a background image.

Then, go to the Texts tab, and under Image, you will see a drop menu. Choose your image from the list. The image you choose here will be used as a background image.

The picture will show up in the Input area. Next, draw a hotspot on the background image with your mouse. Automatically, an option text field will be created.

Under Settings, below the image, per hotspot choose the;

  • Type: the hotspot can be of type Text or Drag and Drop.

  • dOption: link the hotspot to an option text field. For Drag and Drop it is possible to link one option to multiple hotspots. An additional option will be created automatically for the student at runtime.

    No options to choose from? In the upper left corner of the page, click on Add and then choose New option:

    New options will be added:

  • Style: Dark, Light or White. The style influences the color and transparency of the hotspot

Under options, you define for hotspot type Drag and Drop: the html that needs to be dragged text: the correct answer is case sensitive. Multiple answers can be inserted, separated with a ";" symbol. Note that only the first value will be shown in the Solution.

For example:

apple;apples

The answer will be correct when the centre of the item lies in the correct hotspot.

Note that unused options are also displayed to the student.
